We are making the final preparations for BelFOSS 2019 with a gang of volunteers ready to keep the hot water flowing and keep you safe and comfortable for the day. As usual we have crammed a lot of talks into the day so we will be ruthless with the timekeeping.
We couldn’t bring you a free event about free software without the generosity of our sponsors Proofpoint, Forde Campbell LLC, Allstate, Flax & Teal, SpotX and Computer Science at Queen’s University.
The folks at QUB have provided the venue and support from their staff for the 4th year running and in particular Neil Lowry has been instrumental in organising the event since 2016.
The event celebrates the benefits that libre software brings us all as a community and for many years the Belfast Linux User Group (BLUG) has been the focus of that community. BelFOSS is brought together by members of the BLUG including Phil Weir, Willix and Jonny McCullagh.
Each year we try to demonstrate how everyone can benefit from freely licensed software by using it in education, government, charity, startups and global businesses. 2019 will be no different as we hear from academics, Belfast City Council, Ushahidi, Red Hat, Allstate, Proofpoint and the all too important legal perspective from solicitor Rory Campbell.
